Able Instruments

Aduro partnered with Able Instruments & Controls, a global manufacturer and supplier of instrumentation and controls for oil, gas and industrial markets, to rebuild the commercial heart of their digital platform. In December 2025 the business relaunched on ableinstruments.com — replacing the legacy storefront with a new checkout and quote tool shaped around configurable products, equipment hire and trade-account purchasing. Most revenue flows through the quoting engine, checkout and account area Aduro built — not a generic shop template.

When every order is a configuration problem
Instrumentation rarely sells as a single static SKU. Buyers choose components, combinations and quantities where only certain options are valid together — and pricing, weight and lead time change with every selection. Hire lines add date ranges and formula-based rates on top.
The architectural decision was to treat configuration, hire and quote-led products as first-class commercial entities — with selections driving live price, weight and reference data — rather than forcing complex assemblies through standard catalogue mechanics.
Checkout built for trade customers
The rebuilt checkout supports the journeys Able's customers actually take: ship to site, collect from factory, or ex-works collection with calculated shipping and tax. Trade buyers can pay by card or against an Able account with credit terms; purchase order references and file uploads sit alongside coupons and saved payment methods.

Organisation-linked quick order lets repeat B2B customers reorder from an internal catalogue in their default currency — with energy surcharges and account rules applied automatically. Configured products arrive in checkout with signed payloads carrying SKU, configuration metadata, lead times and technical attachments, so what the customer configured is exactly what operations fulfil.
A quote tool engineers actually use
For many lines, sales still begin with a quote. Able's engineers build multi-line quotes in admin — searching customers, adding configured and standard products, applying line discounts, choosing shipping, and setting expiry dates across GBP, EUR, USD and CHF.

Quotes carry customer and internal references, purchase order attachments, revision numbering, and branded email templates with separate internal and external messaging. Once sent, customers checkout online from the quote itself — paying by card or account credit — while staff track status from pending through to completed or expired. Carts convert to quotes when a conversation needs to move from self-serve to assisted selling.
Admin, exports and operational continuity
Operations teams manage orders, quotes, customers, coupons and users from a dedicated admin area — with filtered exports for reporting, message templates for consistent customer communication, and visibility of legacy records during the transition to the new platform.
Security as a long-term partnership
Able Instruments are one of Aduro's flagship ISO-aligned security clients — a relationship built over years of iterative delivery rather than a one-off build. Security scanning, controlled deployments and UK-hosted production infrastructure reflect that most of Able's revenue runs through this platform; downtime or data compromise is a business-critical risk, not an IT inconvenience.
The December 2025 relaunch on ableinstruments.com marks the next chapter of that partnership — a commercial platform that matches the complexity of the products Able sells, and the trust their customers place in how those orders are handled.
Key Results
Able Instruments supply instrumentation and controls to oil, gas and industrial customers worldwide. Their catalogue spans configurable assemblies, equipment hire, and quote-led lines where price depends on engineering choices — not a simple add-to-basket SKU.
Aduro has partnered with Able for years. The December 2025 relaunch on ableinstruments.com brought checkout and quoting onto a single commercial platform — designed around how their sales engineers sell, how trade accounts buy, and how operations need orders to arrive downstream.
